FIU BUILDING FACTS
Graham Center (MMC)
The Graham Center, FIU's student union. Over 3.5 million people walk through the Graham Center every year, making it the heart of student life at FIU. Built in 1974. Named after the Graham family.
Tamiami Airport Tower (MMC)
FIU's oldest building, an airport tower left over from Tamiami Airport. It was here that the university planning team met and began laying the strategy for growth. Technically FIU’s oldest building as it was leftover from the airport.
Glenn Hubert Library (BBC)
Located at the Biscayne Bay Campus, previously known as the Biscayne Bay Campus Library. This 3-story library serves the needs of BBC and the Colleges, Departments, and programs there; most services offered at GL are also offered at HL. Named after Glenn Hubert built in 1986.
Charles E. Perry Building (MMC)
Charles Perry Building, formerly known as the Primera Casa Building or the PC Building. Spanish for “first house.” Established in 1969, it was the first building constructed at FIU and President Perry addressed the university on the steps of PC the day FIU officially opened on Sept. 14, 1972.
Steven and Dorothea Green Library (MMC)
FIU's main library. It is the largest library in the Southeastern United States and is the tallest building on campus. One of the first buildings on campus, formerly named “Athenaeum” which in Ancient Greece was applied to buildings in ancient Greece which were dedicated to Athena, the goddess of wisdom and the arts.
Academic Center One & Two (BBC)
Construction started in 1972. Finished in 1980 and 1983, always known by these names. Two of the oldest buildings at BBC.
